What are they made from?
Each individual reusable face pad is made using 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. What does GOTS stand for? Global Organic Textile standard. This means there's a governing body to ensure from the person sewing the seed, all the way to the fabric getting to me is sustainably and ethically made. Only the best of the best for you my lovelies.
Why are they square?
Here at Cotton Lily, my aim is to be as zero-waste as possible when it comes to handmaking my products, so I make the pads square to ensure I’m using every last inch of fabric. If I made them circular, I would have a pile of diamond-shaped offcuts going to waste and we wouldn’t want that now, would we?
How to use them?
Each reusable pad is double-sided. One side has fluffy terry towelling for cleansing and the other is super soft flannel (like fleece) for toning. I personally like to massage a pea size blob of organic coconut oil into my face, wet the pad with hot water and use the cleansing side to wipe away the day's makeup and grime.
I then use witch hazel on the other side as a natural toner. You are of course welcome to use any cleanser/toner you like but with this method giving you the scent of a bounty bar, why would you choose anything else?
How do I wash them?
After each use, you can either handwash with a little soap and leave to dry or rinse with cold water and place in a small laundry bag ready for when you come to do your regular laundry. Don't have a small laundry bag to keep your face pads together? These organic cheesecloth produce bags work perfectly.
Do they stain?
With any organic fabric, staining will occur from oil-based makeup but remember, staining does not equal dirt. As long as you know you’ve washed your face pads then you know they're clean regardless of any staining.
