We, as brits, are well known for our love of tea. But why stick to English breakfast when there are so many natural infusions to choose from. Here are my top 3 to get you started.
1. Peppermint. What a godsend this has been for me since developing IBS in my early 30’s. Peppermint is an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial herb that can ease digestion symptoms and is caffeine-free, making it perfect to drink any time of the day.
2. Lemon balm, chamomile and lavender. Just reading this recipe will make the stress drift away. Take 2 tablespoons each of dried lemon balm and chamomile and a tablespoon of dried lavender buds and leave to steep in boiling water for 15-30 mins. The longer you leave it the stronger it will be.
3. Ginger, honey and lemon. This has to be one of my favourite infusions. Like peppermint, ginger is great at reducing inflammation. Add that to the superpowers of honey and lemon and you’ve got yourself the queen of teas. I like to make mine by grating a thumb-sized piece of ginger and placing it all, skin included, into one of my reusable teabags, leaving it to steep in boiling water to make it as strong as possible and then adding honey and a slice of lemon to taste. This is a great winter warmer and It's particularly nice at Christmas to use with hot organic apple juice.
If you’re inspired to try these caffeine-free natural teas, why not try them in one of my organic cotton reusable teabags.
